Terms & Conditions

These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the CareCompass website and related services. By accessing or using CareCompass, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

About CareCompass

CareCompass provides a searchable directory of CQC-registered care homes in England and a channel for families and representatives to submit placement enquiries to care home providers. CareCompass facilitates introductions only; we do not provide care, care assessments, or regulated activity under the Health and Social Care Act 2008.

CareCompass is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated on behalf of the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

Eligibility

  • You must be at least 18 years old to submit a placement request or register as a care home operator.
  • You confirm that information you provide is accurate, complete, and not misleading.
  • You confirm you have authority to submit a placement enquiry on behalf of the person who may receive care.

Directory information

Care home profiles are compiled from publicly available CQC registration data and related sources. Information may not always be complete, current, or accurate. Ratings, bed numbers, specialisms, and contact details can change without notice.

You should verify important information directly with the care home and on the CQC website before making care decisions. CareCompass does not guarantee the suitability of any home for a particular individual.

Marketplace and placement enquiries

CareCompass operates a placement enquiry marketplace. Families submit requests through care home profiles. Care homes may view enquiry summaries on their operator dashboard and pay a one-off unlock fee (currently £25.00) to access full family contact details. CareCompass facilitates introductions only — we are not party to any care contract.

Placement enquiries

  • Submitting a placement request does not guarantee availability, admission, a care assessment, or a response within any particular timeframe.
  • Any care arrangement, contract, or funding decision is solely between you and the care home provider (and any relevant local authority or NHS body).
  • You must not submit false, misleading, abusive, or spam enquiries.
  • By submitting an enquiry, you agree to our Privacy Policy and give consent as described on the placement form.

Care home operator accounts

  • Operator accounts are issued to authorised representatives of CQC-registered care homes. You must keep login credentials confidential and notify us promptly of any unauthorised access.
  • Lead unlock fees are charged per lead at the price displayed at checkout (currently £25.00 per family lead unlock unless otherwise stated). Fees are exclusive of VAT unless indicated.
  • Unlock fees are non-refundable except where required by applicable consumer protection law or at our discretion in exceptional circumstances.
  • Unlocked lead data must be used only to respond to the relevant placement enquiry and in compliance with UK data protection law. You must not resell, share, or use lead data for unrelated marketing without a separate lawful basis.

Acceptable use

You must not:

  • Scrape, bulk download, mirror, or resell directory data without our written permission
  • Attempt to bypass access controls, payment requirements, or security measures
  • Upload malware, interfere with the operation of the service, or impose unreasonable load on our systems
  • Use the service for unlawful, harassing, discriminatory, or fraudulent purposes
  • Impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation with a care home

Intellectual property

CareCompass branding, software, design, and original content are owned by us or our licensors. CQC open data remains subject to applicable licence terms. You may not copy or reuse our materials except as permitted by law or with our consent.

Disclaimer of warranties

The service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation.

Limitation of liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under English law.

Subject to the above, we shall not be liable for any indirect, consequential, or special loss, or for loss of profits, data, or goodwill arising from your use of the service. Our total liability to you for claims arising in connection with the service shall not exceed the greater of (a) the fees you paid to us in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) £100.

Consumer rights

If you are a consumer, nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and other applicable UK consumer protection legislation.

Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, if we reasonably believe your use poses a security or legal risk, or if required by law. You may stop using the service at any time.

Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction, subject to mandatory consumer protections that may give you rights in your country of residence.
