CareCompass is built on trusted public data. We believe families and care homes deserve to know where information comes from, how often it is updated, and what we do when something looks wrong.
Care Quality Commission (CQC)
Every care home profile on CareCompass starts with registration data published by the Care Quality Commission. This includes the home's name, address, CQC rating, care types, registered bed numbers, and regulatory status.
CareCompass is an independent directory. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated on behalf of the CQC.
Companies House
Where a care home is operated by a registered company, we may link provider information to records from Companies House. This helps us understand corporate ownership and supports accurate provider grouping across multiple homes.
Provider enrichment
We supplement official records with carefully controlled enrichment — for example, matching a home to its operating provider and validating publicly listed contact channels. Enriched data is used internally to support operator notifications and is not published as personal contact details on public profiles.
Public profile pages follow our contact policy for care homes: families see address, ratings, and official website or telephone where available — not private email addresses from our enrichment database.
Monthly refresh platform
Care home listings are refreshed through an automated monthly import process. Each run is logged with timestamps and status so we can track when data was last updated. Ratings, registrations, and bed numbers can change between refreshes.
The homepage displays the date of the latest completed CQC refresh so families can see how current the directory is.
Verification and accuracy
We compare incoming records against existing profiles to detect new homes, closures, and material changes. Thin or incomplete hub pages may be excluded from search engine indexing when they would not help families.
If you believe information about your home is incorrect, please contact us with your CQC location ID. We will investigate and correct verifiable errors in line with our import data.
Transparency commitment
We do not sell placement in search results. Homes are ordered by CQC rating quality, then name — not by advertising spend. Our commercial model for operators is a simple £25 fee when you choose to unlock a family placement enquiry.
